Lakeland Co-op was honoured on September 23, 2026, by capturing the prestigious Community Attraction Award of Distinction at the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction. Hosted by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce at a gala event in Leduc, the ceremony celebrated provincial businesses that demonstrate outstanding excellence, sustainability, and community impact.

The Community Attraction category honours organizations dedicated to lifting their communities and driving regional vitality and attractiveness. Lakeland Co-op ultimately beat out three other amazing finalists to claim the award - Century Mile Racetrack and Casino from Edmonton, Charmed from Lethbridge, and KDM Helping Hands from St. Albert.

Following the exciting announcement on-stage, General Manager JP Stassen emphasized that our co-operative mission extends beyond retail operations, but also focuses on serving our members, meeting the needs of our communities, and fostering local pride. Back at home, GM JP ensured both the amazing Team and Board were recognized as a big part of the remarkable achievement as well.

This success arrives on the heels of a string of other recent significant awards that have been presented to Lakeland Co-op:
• Winner of 2025 Bonnyville Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award – Outstanding Customer Service
• Winner of 2024 FCL Home Centre Commitment to Excellence Award (presented in 2025)
• Nominated for 2026 Cold Lake Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award
